"A prestigious Danish audio brand, famous for its devotion to create authentic and second to none listening experiences for those with tastes and passions toward life and music"

"Dynaudio approached us to help shape their first family of portable consumer speakers, dubbed The New Consumer Line 'NCL.' By combining construction, form, and functionality, we created a wireless, portable speaker that caters to the mobile lifestyle. The speaker was designed with young consumers in mind, introducing them to the premium audio brand and helping them take their first step towards becoming true audio connoisseurs.

The speaker concepts shown in this case study represent a range of design aesthetics, from soft organic forms to more crisp and angular designs. The Dynaudio brand tends to favor a sharp, angular aesthetic, but as we moved towards portability, we needed to understand the impact that softer, more approachable and portable forms would have on consumer perception of the brand.

Given that Dynaudio is a high-end brand, we knew that we needed to maintain a high level of quality, fit, and finish, and that our material choices needed to be authentic.".

user research

designing the front grill involved careful attention to air volume of the hole openings. It was critical to design the grill to support optimal sound.

Here we are experimenting and evaluating gradient patterns with an effort to create a custom unique look for Dynaudio’s speaker front.

  • Intersection

After multiple concept iterations and research with consumers, Dynaudio chose to go with this final design titled Intersection. The crisp details and rectilinear form was selected as the best representation of the brand.

The active subwoofer and tweeter was designed to produce rich bass and a high-frequency sound, and the front of the speaker is made of anodized aluminum and matte plastic. The rich black color subtly reveals the contrast in texture when viewed up close.
